MINI-REVISION OF THE BIOCIDAL PRODUCTS DIRECTIVE

Commission proposal for so called mini-revision of the BPD has been published. Extension of transitional period with 3 years i.e. until 14. May 2013 has been proposed. Data protection would be prolonged as well.

Member State discussions in the Council working groups are on going.

	NEW DECISION ON NON-INCLUSION

In case for a given active substance/product type combination no complete dossier has been received within the specified time period the Commission makes a decision on non-inclusion of the active substance/product type combination and its withdrawal from the market.

Latest non-inclusion decision was voted on the Standing Committee in November.

This decision includes active substance in product types 18 and 19. Dead-line for withdrawal from the market is 12 months from the entry into force of the decision i.e. 1 June 2010.

Consolidated list of existing active substances for which a decision of non-inclusion into Annex I or IA has been adopted.

	ORGANISATIONAL NEWS

National Product Control Agency for Welfare and Health (STTV) and the National Authority for Medicolegal Affairs (TEO) areto merge on 1 January 2009 to create the National Supervisory Authority for Welfare and Health, to be known as Valvira.
